Road Repairs Underway Following Water District Emergency Work; Grand View Sign Installation Planned
Jamal Gangor, City Administrator, addressed a concern about road conditions on High Grove and Buyers Road, stating that it was due to emergency repairs by the water district. The area has been patched, and final repairs are pending bid results, expected before summer's end. He also mentioned that the Grand View Missouri sign is scheduled for installation at Grand View Market.
Conditional Use Permit for Indoor Pickleball Facility Approved
The board considered a conditional use permit for an indoor recreation facility focused on pickleball, to be located at 12416 and 12418 Grand View Road. The proposal involves renovating an existing structure and constructing a new one to accommodate a total of twelve indoor pickleball courts. The planning commission unanimously recommended approval, and staff also recommended approval. Public comments included one adjacent property owner in favor, one adjacent tenant in favor, and one adjoining property owner with noise concerns.
New Liquor License Approved for 7-Eleven
The board approved a new liquor license for 7-Eleven at 6506 Main Street. This was necessary because the previous owner passed away, and although his daughter managed the store under a family member provision, a new license was required upon expiration due to city code.
Zoning Map Amendment to Planned District (PD) Approved for US 71 Highway Property
The board approved Ordinance 7916, a zoning map amendment for the property at 14925 South US 71 Highway (Parcel 67-720-11-06-00-00-0000). The amendment changes the zoning of this parcel, which is currently split between C2 and R1, to a Planned District (PD) zoning. This change provides more flexibility for development while ensuring an extra layer of review.
Outdoor Pickleball Courts Approved Amid Noise Concerns
The board reviewed a conditional use permit for the outdoor component of an indoor/outdoor pickleball facility, Agora KC, located at 12416 and 12418 Grand View Road. The proposal includes six outdoor courts situated in a lowered area, approximately five feet below grade. The planning commission unanimously recommended approval, and staff also recommended approval. Eight public comments were received, with two in favor and six expressing noise concerns from the Martin City Melodrama.
