Subcommittee Formed to Boost Community Center Donor Wall Campaign
A subcommittee was formed to support the Foster City Community Center donor wall outreach campaign. The campaign aims to involve the community in contributing to the new facility through the donor wall, offering naming opportunities for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. The subcommittee will champion the effort, develop promotional strategies, and work with city staff. Initial discussions focused on donation tiers, the clarity of communication regarding recognition, the possibility of installment payments, and the potential for rotating recognition for lower-tier donations. The subcommittee consists of Divya, Eric, and Yvonne.
Canada Goose Management Program Shows Promising Early Results
Wildlife Innovations presented an update on the Canada Goose Management Plan pilot program. The program, which began in September, has been underway for nine months. The presentation detailed the data collection methods, hazing tools, and promising initial results, including a 66% decrease in goose activity in treatment parks compared to a 48% decrease in control parks, and an 83% decline in scat in treatment parks versus a 6% increase in control parks. The team also discussed future strategies, including habitat modifications, herd/guide techniques for molting geese, and expanding banding efforts. The council discussed the long-term sustainability of the program, potential habitat modifications, and the program's potential regional impact.
