Successful Bridge Dedication Highlights Community Collaboration; Bloody Gulch Park Development Underway
The bridge dedication ceremony for Petunia Crossing (also referred to as Project Rock) was a significant event with over 150 attendees, including local officials and community members. The project encompasses more than just the bridge, including pathways through Page Park and connections to the riverfront. Recognition was given to contractors, engineers, the public, and specifically Councilman Bishop for his vision and leadership. Separately, the city is preparing for Bloody Gulch Park development, with phase one including a retention pond, pavilion, pathways, and parking.

Additionally, the city is preparing applications for the next round of ITEP (Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program) grants, which would fund pathway extensions from 7th Street through Bloody Gulch Park to the gateway.

North Galena Road Repairs to Cause Temporary Lane Reductions; EV Charging Stations Nearing Completion
IDOT will be conducting repairs on North Galena from Everett to Dairy Queen for approximately one month, expected to be completed by mid-August. This work will reduce the roadway to one lane in each direction, causing inconvenience but ultimately extending the road's life. Additionally, the city is addressing the completion of two EV charging stations (four vehicle capacity) at the Galena and River parking lot, with final hookups pending.
City to Offer Accessible Golf Cart Tours of Project Rock and Pathways for Seniors and Disabled Residents
The city is preparing to host golf cart rides through Project Rock and the new pathways on August 6th, from 3 to 7 p.m., specifically for seniors and individuals with disabilities. This initiative, sponsored by the Dixon Park District, aims to provide an accessible way for those who cannot navigate the trails otherwise to experience the community's new developments. This follows a successful similar event during the bridge dedication.
