The city is considering the trade-offs between on-street parking and a center median near the park entrance, with concerns raised about traffic backup and safety if parking is removed. A discussion also included potential alternative uses for 6F property acquired by UDOT, such as additional parking, park space, or a dog park, with a total of approximately 0.6 to 0.65 acres available.
I-15 Project Update: Safety Enhancements and Timeline for Parrish Lane Interchange
The council received an update on the I-15 corridor project, including details on the proposed safety modifications for the Parrish Lane interchange. The project involves constructing a slip ramp under northbound I-15 and introducing an island to prevent head-on collisions or wrong-way entry onto I-15 from 620 North. This modification will eliminate the southbound left turn movement onto 650 North but will maintain other movements and does not prevent access to the private road. The project timeline indicates proposals are due in October, with construction and design starting in January 2027 and major construction activities commencing in June 2027, expected to conclude in 2030-2032. Significant upfront design work is anticipated over four to five months. The project also includes updates to the drainage system and the Chase Lane PRV, with a second phase focusing on the fill station re-leveling.
