City Transitions to 3-Day Sanitation Schedule and Addresses Coyote Sightings

Public Works Director Mr. Brooks updated the council on the transition of sanitation routes from a two-day to a three-day schedule, effective this week. This change utilizes an automated truck that does not require a full crew, freeing up existing crews for other tasks like pothole repair or debris removal. Door hangers informed residents in affected subdivisions, which include Farmington, Provincial Park, Morgan Landing, North Point Grand, Yellowstone, Stonybrook, and Morgan Town Homes, that they will now use the automated truck. Additionally, an 'Helping Hands' program application for seniors and disabled residents unable to get cans to the road has been updated on the city's website. Mr. Brooks also provided an update on coyote sightings in various subdivisions and city parks, noting increased aggression in Long View Park, possibly indicating a den. The city has hired professional trappers and contacted DNR. DNR advised that trapping can take 3 weeks to a month and reiterated that urban wildlife behavior is normal. The city plans to post DNR guidance on living with coyotes on its social media.
