DCMS Celebrates 100th Birthday with Original Music Performances

The DCMS 8th grade graduates collaborated to write lyrics for a new school song, which were then set to music by a local composer with the help of a generous donation from the Brighton Education Funds. This song was performed for the first time at the concert. The orchestra also performed several other pieces, including the 'Wabash Cannon Ball' which featured violinists imitating train whistles, and a piece that required shifting to reach higher notes. The 7th and 6th grade orchestra students also performed. The 8th grade chorus, which presented a challenging coral music piece, performed a song they learned through decoding solfege and rhythm syllables. The concert concluded with a jazz-infused classical piece.
