Apple Valley Arts Foundation Announces "Music in Kelley Park" Summer Concert Series for 2026
The Apple Valley Arts Foundation, in partnership with the city and local sponsors, will present the "Music in Kelley Park" series for the summer of 2026. Due to ongoing construction at Kelley Park, the concerts will be held at Bogart's Entertainment Center from June 19th to July 31st. The series will then move to Splash Valley Water Park on August 7th, and conclude with a special event at Kelley Park on September 26th to celebrate the opening of the new amphitheater. The events are free and feature a variety of musical acts, with food trucks available at the September event.
Councilmembers Commend Memorial Day Programs and Announce Upcoming Meetings
Councilmember Ergun commented on the annual Memorial Day program hosted at the Legion, praising it as one of the best in the area and noting strong community involvement. He also commended the program at the VFW, specifically mentioning the moving music and a profound welcoming remark. Police Department to Host Bike Safety Day with Free Activities and Giveaways
The Apple Valley Police Department is hosting a "Bike Safety Day" event on June 11th from noon to 2:00 PM at Greenleaf Park. The event aims to engage the community, particularly young cyclists, by combining food, bike activities, and interaction with police officers. Activities will include a safety course, equipment checks, and bike registration. Helmets will be given away, and a new hot dog stand, sponsored by the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation, will be available. The event is free and open to the public.
Council Considers Contract for Renovating and Expanding Community and Senior Center
The council considered approving a contract for the Apple Valley Community Center and Senior Center project, which is the fifth and final signature project funded by a recent bond referendum. The project aims to preserve and improve the existing facilities, making them more cost-efficient and accommodating future usage trends. Key improvements include a central entrance, an indoor playground, a senior fitness space, an enlarged senior coffee lounge, updated mechanicals, and new programming space. Construction is slated to begin in June 2026 and conclude in the fall of 2027. The total project cost is estimated at $13.8 million, with a guaranteed maximum price contract of $10,528,253 with Terra Construction for construction management at risk services. An amendment to the professional services agreement with JLG Architects for $839,034 was also proposed.

The City of Apple Valley, in coordination with the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce, recently hosted the State of the City address at Valleywood. The event highlighted the city's accomplishments over the past year, and a 2025 Community Report and a video summarizing these achievements were produced.
