Tinton Falls to Apply for Grant to Improve Green Grove Road

The council discussed a grant application for New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) funding for Green Grove Road improvements. The borough has received numerous complaints about Green Grove Road and is coordinating with Ocean Township, who is also planning to pave their section. Tinton Falls plans to apply for the full stretch from Wayside to Asbury, anticipating they may only receive partial funding and will need to apply for subsequent rounds, similar to the Rucker Drive project. The current road program is also on track to finish paving West Park Avenue and move on to the Silver Crest Drive area.

Tinton Falls Seeks County Grant for Walls Park Improvements

The council discussed a public hearing for the Monmouth County Municipal Park Improvement Grant Program application for Walls Park. The county allocates $6 million annually for park improvements, with a maximum grant award of $500,000, requiring a 50% match from the borough. The grant favors new development over maintenance. The borough has previously received grants for various park projects. The current application is for improvements to Walls Park, which has seen a significant cost increase due to stormwater requirements. The project will be phased, with Phase 1 including parking, restrooms, utilities, playground, lighting, and stormwater facilities, and Phase 2 focusing on a multi-use trail and fishing platform. The total estimated cost for Phase 2 is $696,000, and they are requesting the maximum $500,000 grant.
