The final list of recommended propositions to be placed on the ballot will be determined by council direction.
City Council Approves Application for 100% Grant to Replace Water Tank
The City Council discussed and considered Resolution Number 2334, authorizing the city to request financial assistance from the Texas Water Development Board for the replacement of the existing water tank. This initiative aims to install a new 2.5 million gallon water tank adjacent to the current 1 million gallon tank. This approach allows the city to leverage specialized expertise, ensure third-party review of developer plans, and maintain competitive pricing due to the availability of multiple qualified firms.
Police Department to Acquire 18 Axon Tasers Using Asset Forfeiture Funds
The City Council considered and approved the purchase of 18 Axon Taser 7 packages for the Police Department. This acquisition, costing $92,597.73, will be funded entirely through asset forfeiture funds, having no impact on the fiscal year operating budget. The purchase aims to improve officer access to intermediate force options, enhance officer safety, and provide better tools for safely resolving encounters. This purchase expands existing equipment and services already in use. The department also plans to include individual Taser systems in future officer build-outs to ensure all sworn officers have access to a conducted energy weapon.
