Street Closure Approved for Canal Fest
The council approved Resolution 96, authorizing the waiver of application fees for right-of-way permits for Rome Rotary in regards to Canal Fest. This is to allow for the closure of a portion of East Whitesboro Street from Race Street to the dead end at the bridge over the Mohawk River, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., to accommodate vendors, a children's run, and general public access during the event.
Sewer Improvement Project Funded with Reserve Account Funds
Resolution 97 was amended and approved, authorizing the use of $365,000 from the sewer department reserve account (ES884) to fund sewer improvements as a capital project. The initial resolution was reopened and amended due to a typo in the funding amount.
City Council Approves Submissions for Canal Way, Brownfields Grants
The council approved two resolutions authorizing the Mayor to submit grant applications. Resolution 93 supports applications for the Canal Way Grant Program and the Environmental Protection Fund Grant for the Muck Road boat launch phase 1 project, totaling $825,000.
