City Council Approves FY27 Budget, ICIP, and CDBG Plan

The City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2027 balanced budget and the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP) for fiscal years 2027-2031. The FY27 budget includes a 5% salary increase for all employee groups, a 5% increase in medical premiums, and the addition of 22 new positions, including firefighters, police officers, and administrative staff. An amendment to the budget incorporates an additional $1.4 million for personnel at the police department due to negotiations with the Rio Rancho Police and Communications Association. The budget maintains a 25% reserve policy despite these adjustments. The ICIP for FY27 is $310.1 million, with a 5-year plan totaling $942.9 million, focusing on public works and water/wastewater projects. The council also approved the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Fourth Annual Action Plan for 2026-2027, allocating $522,000 towards public service and public improvement programs.
