Resident Raises Sustainability, Storm Water Meeting, and Halloween Decoration Concerns
Alex Kogan raised concerns about sustainability elements in the DPW and police department projects, urging their inclusion in specifications. He also inquired about the upcoming Storm Water meeting, asking if an agenda would be available and if questions could be submitted in advance. Kogan also asked if the meeting would be recorded. Finally, he questioned the presence of large, obtrusive Halloween decorations ('skeletons') on lawns, asking if an ordinance existed.
Tax Assessor Brian Flynn Resigns
Resolution 195 accepts the resignation of Brian Flynn as the Tax Assessor, effective June 1st. Flynn served the borough since 2015, initially as Deputy Tax Assessor and later as Tax Assessor.
New Police Officers Appointed to Bureau
The council approved two resolutions to appoint new probationary police officers. Resolution 186 appointed Cayla Pix, who will attend the John H. Stanler Police Academy for waiver training. Resolution 187 appointed Quinn Lanigan, who will attend the John H. Stanley Police Academy for basic training. Both appointments are part of the bureau's effort to hire new officers.
No Parking on Park Place During Saturday Recycling Hours Approved
An ordinance (04) was read amending Chapter 257 concerning vehicles, specifically implementing no parking on Park Place between 6 AM and 2 PM on Saturdays during recycling collection. Public comment was opened but no one appeared to comment. The ordinance passed.
Borough Partners with Gear Give for Sporting Goods Collection
Resolution 203 authorizes an agreement with Gear Give for the placement of sporting goods collection bins at the DPW recycling yard. The borough will receive $100 per month for hosting the collection box, which will collect used sporting equipment as part of the DPW's recycling day efforts on the first and third Saturdays of the month.
