City Council Approves Support and Funding for Community Development Block Grant Application

The Action Council seeks individuals with a vested interest in children and families for community betterment. The Family Council is for parents or caregivers with a child aged eight or under in Jefferson, Mary, Clintner, or Washington County. Meetings occur monthly via Zoom to discuss program goals for children and families. The interest forms are open until August 14th, with a specific need for more participants from Jefferson County. Flyers and a Facebook group are being used for outreach.
Subdivision Approved for Joint Fire Training Tower in Roland Lewis Industrial Park
The City Council approved a subdivision preliminary and final plat for a nine-acre parcel located north of the Pepsi facility in the Roland Lewis Industrial Park. The approved plat separates three acres from the parcel, which will be used for a joint training tower shared by the Mount Vernon Fire Department and the Jefferson County Fire District. This item was previously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission with a unanimous 4-0 vote.
