Moore City Council Meeting July 6, 2026
Published: Jul 6, 2026
New Vacuum Street Sweeper Approved for Catch Basin and Street Cleaning
The council authorized the budgeted purchase of a Schwarz AAT street sweeper unit for $460,260.68 using a Sourcewell contract. This vacuum street sweeper will be used to clean out storm drain catch basins and sweep streets, complementing the existing 2019 street sweeper which handles larger debris. The purchase has been approved in the 2027 budget.
Council Convenes Executive Session for Legal Case and Police Contract
The council convened in executive session to discuss a pending court case (CJ206-16, Smolan vs. City of Moore) and to consider the fiscal year 2026-2027 contract between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge number 131. Following the executive session, the council voted to proceed as directed on both items.
Condemnation Process Authorized for SW 19th & Santa Fe Intersection Project
The council adopted Resolution No. 13826, declaring the necessity for acquiring real properties and/or easements for the Southwest 19th Street and Santa Fe Avenue intersection improvement project. This action is for roadway widening and reconstruction. The city has been unable to reach agreements with four property owners and has not received responses from them, leading to a recommendation to proceed with the condemnation process while still attempting to negotiate settlements.
City Council Approves Purchase of New CNG Rear-Load Sanitation Truck
The council authorized the budgeted purchase of a rear-load CNG sanitation truck chassis from Premier Truck Group for $155,344.50 and a 20cy PAL track 1000 rear loader body from River City Hydraulics for $138,300, including installation and delivery. The combined total cost is $293,647. This purchase addresses the need for a lighter truck suitable for dead-end and cul-de-sac streets, as the current single rear loader has required repairs and necessitated using heavier side loaders in inappropriate areas.
Golf Simulator Alcohol Permit Rezoning Tabled Amidst School Proximity Concerns
The council considered a rezoning application (RZ1059) to allow for permissive use of indoor participant recreation and entertainment with on-site alcohol consumption at a golf simulator business. The property is located in a C3PU General Commercial District. Staff recommended denial due to proximity to schools and the potential for other uses within the strip center to be approved under the same permissive use. The council debated the implications of allowing alcohol sales in a commercial strip mall adjacent to educational facilities. Ultimately, the motion to deny failed, and the item was tabled for further deliberation.
