Dell City Approves FY27 Pay Increases and New Positions
The council discussed and approved changes to the pay range and classification for fiscal year 2027, including a basic 3% cost of living raise. New positions are being created, such as Activities and Events Coordinator, Grants Coordinator, Utility Billing Supervisor, Communications Supervisor, and Stormwater Floodplain Administrator. Additional maintenance staff are also being budgeted for. The last cost of living adjustment was in July 2023. The council also approved the proposed pay range and classification chart.
Dell City Approves Jail Services Agreement with Oklahoma County for FY2027
The Dell City Council approved the jail services agreement with the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority for fiscal year 2027. This is a standard contract for housing inmates within the county court system. The agreement runs through June 30, 2027.
Dell City Council Appoints New Members to Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment
The council acknowledged the resignation of Richard Hudson from the Planning Commission (Ward 3) and approved the appointment of Hezekiah Miles to fill the vacancy. Simultaneously, Jim Studebaker resigned from the Board of Adjustment, and Daryl Standridge was appointed to replace him. Both Miles and Standridge were sworn into their respective positions. The council also approved minutes from previous meetings of the Dell City Economic Development Authority (DCEDA) and the Dell City Municipal Services Authority (DCMSA). A resolution was passed regarding a legal release for Twila Reich and Brandy Reich versus the city of Dell City.
Dell City Renews Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Agreement with Midwest City
The council reviewed and approved an agreement for household hazardous waste disposal with the City of Midwest City. This is a continuation of an existing, multi-year contract with no cost increase. The program is part of the city's stormwater management program and helps prevent pollution by allowing Dell City residents to dispose of hazardous materials at Midwest City's facility by appointment. Last year, 9,675 pounds of household hazardous waste were delivered to Midwest City. The city is working to promote this service further to increase participation and keep waste out of local waterways. The agreement also touches on tire disposal, with the city planning to investigate the availability of tire programs for residents.
Dell City Council Approves $3 Million GO Bond for Public Safety Upgrades
The Dell City Council discussed and approved a $3 million General Obligation (GO) bond for public safety improvements. This bond will fund new firefighting vehicles, including a fire engine and a brush/rescue rig, an updated outdoor warning system, and additional vehicles for the police department. The bond will be repaid over a three to five-year period, ending in December 2030, and will result in a change in the millage rate for property owners. A special election is scheduled for August 25, 2026, for citizens to vote on the bond. The council also approved related professional services agreements and the special election proclamation and ordinance.
