Commissioners Correct Votes on Previous Meeting Minutes Due to Absence
During the Board of City Service Commissioners meeting on June 2nd, Commissioner Cleary and Commissioner Wicksporrel noted that they had inadvertently voted to approve the minutes from the May 19, 2026 meeting, despite not being in attendance. It was clarified and agreed that their votes would be recorded as abstentions in the official minutes to reflect their absence from the prior meeting. Executive Secretary Ms. Carter and President Bach confirmed this correction.
Board of City Service Commissioners Approves Multiple Temporary Appointment and Probationary Period Extensions
The Board of City Service Commissioners approved the extension of temporary appointments for two Water Distribution Investigators, Korea Dalton and LeVar Wells, for an additional 90 days, from June 7, 2026, through September 12, 2026. This marks the second extension for these positions, with Milwaukee Waterworks citing an ongoing recruitment effort and expected regular appointments later in the summer. The board also approved the extension of a temporary appointment for Brandon Harbert as Building Services Supervisor II for the Milwaukee Public Library for 90 days, from June 7, 2026, through September 12, 2026, due to the undetermined return date of the employee on leave. Additionally, temporary appointments for six city laborers in the Department of Public Works Operation Division were extended for six months. The commissioners also approved the extension of the probationary period for Irene Cervantes, Customer Service Representative 2, for 90 days, from May 27, 2026, through August 27, 2026, due to performance concerns and the need for more training. Finally, the probationary period for Charlita Thurman, residential property appraiser three, was approved for a 12-month extension, from June 22, 2026, through June 22, 2027. The board also approved the reinstatement of Rolando Juarez to the yard attendant position in the Department of Public Works.
