Finance Committee Approves Multiple Expenditure Requests, Fee Adjustments, and Grant-Related Amendments
The Finance Committee discussed and approved several budget amendments and expenditure requests. Notably, they approved an increased expenditure for Crossroads Asphalt for the police department's range paving, an increased expenditure for Delena Law LLC for union negotiations, and the purchase of a 2024 MV607 International CDU truck for the sanitation department with an emergency clause, ultimately approving an amended amount up to $100,000. They also accepted a bid for city-owned property at 410 East Smith Road for $355,000.01 to Sweets and Geeks, which will facilitate economic development. Additionally, amendments to contractor registration, building, and planning fees were approved to align with current costs and fund new permitting software, with expected annual increases of approximately $68,000. An increased expenditure for pump testing for the fire department was approved, as was an OPERS resolution for Teamster pension pickup with revised wording. A memo of understanding for Medina Railway improvements was approved, including increased annual access fees and individual rail user costs, along with an agreement for a local match for a grant. Engineering design services for Medina Railway Improvements, an increased expenditure for Wintrow Construction for rail line breaks, and SWOMA agreements for property owners exceeding one acre were also approved. Finally, the committee approved a 10-year lease agreement for Axon Taser 10 deployment and subscription plan for the police department, and the purchase of a 2026 Ford Explorer for the police department with an emergency clause due to a vehicle being totaled. The committee also approved amending an ordinance for the US 42 resurfacing project to accommodate a higher bid, necessary to secure grant funding.
