This acquisition is part of the Glenview Connect downtown revitalization plan, specifically the '1800 North Block Spark site' concept. The plan includes creating a public plaza to activate the area and reconfiguring existing parking to improve accessibility. The property is currently occupied by two ground-floor tenants and three second-floor tenants, with most leases being month-to-month. The village plans to conduct a 90-day inspection period before closing.
Senator Laura Fine Honored by Glenview Board of Trustees for Public Service
During the Board of Trustees meeting, Senator Laura Fine was honored for her service to Glenview and the state of Illinois. She has served in the Illinois Senate since 2019, advocating for healthcare access and mental health services, and has previously served as a state representative and clerk of Northfield Township. She was instrumental in opposing the proposed freight train holding track and securing state capital funds for local projects, including a new salt dome, intersection improvements at East Lake, West Lake, and Finkston, and $1.5 million for the Glenview Police Department's gun range upgrade. Glenview Village Board Approves Consent Agenda Including Water Quality Testing Contract and Refuse Cart Extension
The village is considering a resolution to approve a three-year contract with Pace Analytical Services of Peoria, Illinois, for water quality testing. Additionally, a one-year contract extension is being considered with Ray Rick Pacific Company of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, for the purchase of refuse and recycling carts and lids. An intergovernmental agreement with Cook County related to the East Lake Avenue Bridge reconstruction project is also on the agenda. Finally, an 18-month contract extension with Traffic and Parking Control Company of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, for speed boards and related data collection subscriptions is up for consideration. The approval of the voucher list for July 21, 2026, is also part of the consent agenda. Glenview Approves Temporary Inflatable Dome for Old Willow Club Amidst Color Debate
The Board of Trustees considered an ordinance for a conditional use permit and final architecture for a temporary inflatable dome structure at 2750 Old Willow Road. The dome, measuring 105 feet deep by 90 feet wide and 30 feet tall, is proposed for use no more than 180 days per year, exclusively between Labor Day and Memorial Day. The Development Adjustments Commission recommended approval with a 6-0 vote. The dome's color was debated, with white being chosen for its ability to blend in during winter conditions. The structure is situated in the middle of the site, buffered by landscaping and tennis courts, and is intended to be used for swimming during winter months.
Glenview Appoints Two New Members to Development Commission
The Board of Trustees appointed Steve Toomey and Daniel Kurt to the Glenview Development Commission. Steve Toomey, a business consultant and 20-year Glenview resident, is returning for his second term.
