Goleta City Council Appoints Delegates for Cal Cities Annual Conference

Goleta Library Capital Campaign Surges Ahead, Donor Wall Design Unveiled, Children's Section Naming Considered
The Goleta City Council received an update on the Goleta Valley Library Capital Campaign, 'Writing the Next Chapter,' which aims to raise $1.7 million for interior design upgrades and furnishings. The campaign has reached 65.94% of its goal, with $1,121,022.95 committed to date, ahead of schedule. Staff presented a proposed design concept for a donor recognition wall, featuring Goleta heritage elements like eucalyptus leaves, flowers, and monarch butterflies, with donor names to be integrated into book bindings and other artistic elements. The council also considered and supported naming the children's section of the library the 'Doris Methune's Enchanted Words and Wonders Library' or 'Doris Methune's Enchanted Pathways to Discovery' in recognition of a significant $550,000 donation from the John C. Methune Foundation. The council also approved the appropriation of all donated funds received to date for the library campaign.
