Metro Transit Public Hearing on Service Standards on July 29th
Metro Transit and the City of Madison Transportation Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 29th, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss and review proposed new and updated service standards. This includes processes for making service changes and standards for the placement of bus stop shelters, benches, and other amenities. Although it is a City of Madison meeting, Fitchburg residents can participate by submitting comments via the City of Madison Metro website or attending the virtual meeting. The meeting link will be shared on the Talking Fitchburg YouTube channel and Metro's website.
District 2 Listening Session with Mayor and Alders on July 30th
A listening session for District 2 residents will be held on Thursday, July 30th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hasta Huachi. Mayor Julia Radafrada and District Alders Bill and Gabriella will host the session. The mayor will begin with a presentation providing an update on city affairs, followed by a Q&A session for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and offer ideas. The session will be recorded for those unable to attend.
Fitchburg Library to Host 'Touch a Truck' Event on July 28th
The Fitchburg Public Library is hosting a 'Touch a Truck' event on Tuesday, July 28th, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Attendees can explore the interiors of various vehicles, including Fitchburg Fire Department fire trucks, police cars, EMS vehicles, and public works vehicles. FAT TV and the library's van will also be present. Parking is limited due to construction for the public safety building, and one parking lot will be dedicated to public safety vehicles.
Public Hearing on Capital Improvement Plan Amendments Set for July 28th
A public hearing is scheduled for July 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Fitchburg City Hall (and virtually) regarding proposed amendments to the 2027-2036 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Residents can review the Mayor's proposed CIP and Alders' budget amendments on the city's website or watch the hearing on FACTV. The hearing will allow the common council to receive public input before making recommendations.
Fitchburg Public Library Extends Summer Pop-Ups and Seeks Feedback on Kids Crossing Playground
The Fitchburg Public Library is continuing its summer pop-up library program. Two pop-up events are scheduled: one on July 27th at Southdale Park from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and another on July 29th at Hasta Huachi from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. These events will feature library activities, crafts, and stories. Additionally, the city is seeking public feedback on the Kids Crossing playground. A public involvement meeting was held earlier in the month, and residents can still provide feedback via the project website, which includes design concepts and a video from the meeting. Public comments are being accepted until 12:00 p.m. on August 5th and will be reviewed by the Parks Commission on August 6th, with an opportunity for public comment before recommendations are made to the common council. Residents can submit comments through the city's website.
