The current comprehensive plan is from 2015, and state regulations require updates every 10 years, making the current process timely.
East Scotian Renews Verizon Franchise Agreement Through 2031
The township is re-establishing a franchise agreement with Verizon for cable services, a standard process renewed every five years. This agreement allows the municipality to collect a percentage of revenue from the operating infrastructure of telecom companies within East Scotian. Despite a decrease in traditional cable revenue due to streaming and Wi-Fi, the agreement remains a necessary component for municipal revenue capture. The proposed ordinance for this renewal is 129-B-2026. The agreement will extend through 2031.
