Newton Bridge Crossing Residential Project Seeks Modified Timing for Intersection Improvements

The commission heard a request to modify a zoning action from a few years prior for a residential project at 1125 Newton Bridge Road. The request was to change the timing of requirements for upgrading intersections at Newton Bridge Road and two other points to the south. The original approval stipulated these improvements be made before a certificate of occupancy for the beginning of phase two, but the developer encountered difficulties with phasing. The revised condition would allow the developer to plat, construct, and obtain a certificate of occupancy for phase one before completing off-site improvements. This requires a performance bond prior to final plat approval for phase one and completion of improvements before final plat approval for phase two. The planning commission recommended approval with these two conditions.
