Village Waives Bid Process for $57,848 Dispatch Center Network Upgrade
The board approved a resolution to waive the formal bid process and approve an estimate from Enlarge and Consulting for the purchase of 12 Extreme Enterprise W-AP switches for the Edison Consolidated Dispatch Center, totaling $57,848.88. This is a continuation of a successful project started last year, which has improved stability and performance, used by three agencies and for village hall. The waiver is requested due to the complexity and cybersecurity requirements of the system, with Enlarge and Consulting having a proven track record with the village. The switches have a lifespan of 7-8 years, potentially up to 10 years.
Village Acquires Radios for Essential Personnel and Command Post
The Village Board approved the purchase of four Apex next-gen portable radios and two dual-head mobile radios from the DuPage County Emergency Telephone System Board for $42,271.92. These radios are needed because four additional essential personnel (two CSOs, one crime analyst, one investigative aid) have been identified as requiring radios for 911 capacity, although they are not covered by 911 surcharge funds. Additionally, two mobile radios are needed for command post use. DuPage County previously purchased radios for police agencies county-wide under a 911 surcharge fund system.
Consolidated Flooring Granted Sign Ordinance Variance for West Fullerton Location
The village board considered and approved a variation to the sign ordinance for Consolidated Flooring of Chicago at 40 West Fullerton Avenue. The variation allows for an additional wall sign on the Church Street side of the building, which is recessed and difficult for drivers to locate, particularly for delivery trucks. Staff recommended approval due to the unique nature of the property, which has multiple street frontages (Fullerton Avenue, Addison Street, and Church Street) but the primary entrance is off Church Street, causing confusion for first-time visitors. The Commercial Industrial Commission had previously recommended approval.
ComEd to Install New Electrical Transformer for Wastewater Plant Project
The board approved a resolution to waive the formal bid process for Commonwealth Edison Company to install an electrical transformer and related components for the wastewater treatment plant consolidation project at the North Wastewater Facility, for $38,601.95. ComEd is the sole source provider for this equipment and labor. The new transformer will ensure adequate power supply to new buildings and processes and will replace the current transformer at the plant.
Village Approves Purchase of Rugged Laptops for Police Squad Cars
The Village Board approved the purchase of six C56 rugged laptops for squad cars from CDW Government LLC via the State of Illinois Sourcewell contract for $30,744. This is the first batch of replacements, with plans to replace five more next year and an additional 14 in 2028, as the current models are discontinued and the rugged nature of the laptops is essential for the demanding environment within patrol cars.
