District Reports Record Scholarship Earnings, AP Success, and National Recognition
During the Superintendent's report, significant financial achievements and student successes were highlighted. The graduating class of 2026 earned $286.7 million in scholarship offers, a $52 million increase from the previous year, with over $122 million coming from AVID program students. Over the last five years, graduating seniors have collectively earned $1.12 billion in scholarships. The district also reported a record high of over 16,000 AP exams taken, with approximately 60% scoring three or higher. Advanced Placement (AP) takers have increased by 55.4% over four years, with notable growth among African-American, Hispanic, and free/reduced lunch students. Specific increases in AP scores of three or higher were also detailed for these demographic groups, projected to save families significant money on university costs. The report also celebrated Wall Chapel Elementary School's Best Buddies chapter being named the best elementary chapter nationally.
