County Authorizes $350 Million in Bonds for Make Arena Project
The commission authorized the mayor to execute an intergovernmental contract with the Bib County Urban Development Authority for the issuance of up to $350 million in taxable revenue bonds for the 'Make Arena Project' Series 2026. This action allows the authority to issue its bonds and designates county officials to take necessary steps for the issuance and delivery of these bonds.
Bib County Adopts Updated Solid Waste Plan, Restricts Siting of New Facilities
An ordinance was approved to update the Bib County Solid Waste and Materials Management Plan. This update includes ending the temporary moratorium on new solid waste handling facilities, amending the county code to restrict the siting of such facilities within one mile of residential zones, churches, recreational facilities, and schools. The planning and zoning commission is requested to adopt the same.
Kaylee Puit Appointed to Transit and Pedestrian Safety Boards
The board approved the appointment of Kaylee Puit to two positions: the Make Bib County Transit Authority and the Makebip County Pedestrian Safety Review Board. She will be replacing the same individual in both roles. The appointments were recommended for approval.
County Authorizes Grant Applications for Trail Expansion and Airport Improvements
The commission authorized applying for funds from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program for the expansion of the Old Muggy Heritage Trail. This expansion aims to create a safe pedestrian crossing over railroad property and connect the trail from the downtown area to Ammerson River Park. The commission also authorized acceptance of a G DOT airport grant for runway paving and lighting project, and another G DOT airport grant for the taxiway E project at Middle Georgia Regional Airport.
County Approves Procurement of Office Equipment, Radio Systems, Software, and Gunshot Detection Technology
The commission authorized the mayor to execute agreements for several purchases: a Megaat office vertical carousel for the Sheriff's Department, replacement of radio equipment, annual New World Enterprise Resource Planning Software, and Gunshot Technology Location and Forensic Analysis Services from Shot Spotter, Inc. for three years.
