Lancing City Council Sets Public Hearings to Adjust Board and Commission Structure for New Ward System
The Lancing City Council, during a Committee of the Whole meeting, discussed and approved resolutions to set public hearings for July 27th. These hearings will address amendments to municipal code related to the transition of city boards and commissions to a new ward structure, as provided for by the city charter. The ordinances aim to align the structure of various boards and commissions, including the Board of Water and Light and the Arts and Culture Commission, with the upcoming creation of a fifth ward. The current structure of one representative from each of the four existing wards and four at-large members will be maintained until July 1, 2029, when the fifth ward is expected to be established. The Board of Water and Light will be adjusted to have three at-large members, and the Arts and Culture Commission's membership structure will also be aligned. All terms for current members will expire in June 2029, requiring reappointments or new appointments thereafter.
