The Kingsburg City Council reviewed updates to the Master Fee Schedule, including adjustments to fire department fees such as ambulance rates and a new fee for SCBA cylinder refills. Public Works fees, including solid waste and water rates, were also discussed, along with trolley rental and notary fees. These changes, set to take effect July 1, 2026, are intended to ensure services are adequately funded and that taxpayers do not subsidize services driven by private parties or development, in compliance with the California Constitution. Kingsburg City Manager Presents Proposed FY 2026-2027 Budget
City Manager Alexander Henderson presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget, outlining revenue and expenditure forecasts based on strategic planning principles. Key revenue sources include sales tax, hotel tax, property tax, and development fees. The budget prioritizes financial stability, community safety, preserving the Kingsburg experience, community engagement, and supporting businesses. The presentation reviewed the current fiscal year's performance, noting moderate property tax growth and steady building permit fees, with expectations of increased activity from the Crinklaw development phase five. Enterprise funds for water, solid waste, and ambulance/fire services are designed to offset their operational costs. Special revenue funds for local transportation and public safety taxes (Measure E) were detailed, along with planned capital improvement projects funded by these sources. The proposed budget totals over $37 million for FY27, with significant allocations for capital projects, including Well 10 treatment and street replacements. A public hearing for the budget is scheduled for June 17th.
