City Leaders Applaud Infrastructure Improvements' Positive Impact on Storm Management
Mayor and board members reflected on the positive impact of recent infrastructure improvements, particularly concerning storm management. They noted that 10 years ago, downtown areas would become a mess during rainfall, but now 'downtown is quiet' even after significant rain events (6.6 inches downtown, 7.11 inches at North Plant). They acknowledged that while overflows still occurred with such heavy rain, the overall change has been incredible and for the positive, crediting the engineering and manpower involved. The Greenway project ribbon-cutting is scheduled for the next day.

Department Report Details May Flows, Rainfall Impact, and Future Tire Facility Plans
In the department report, flows for May at both the downtown machine and North Plant were provided. Significant rainfall occurred: 6.6 inches at the downtown plant and 7.11 inches at the North Plant. The plants handled the rainfall as expected. The 36-inch force main from 10th Street has not been used in months due to fire issues, limiting flow into the downtown plant. Plans for a new Sun Auto Tire and Service facility at 10th and Bissing Park Road were mentioned, pending planning and zoning approval.
