SE Mechanical to Replace Compressor at Fieldhouse for $17,786.66
A service agreement with SE Mechanical for $17,786.66 was approved for the replacement of a C2 compressor and refrigerant recovery at the fieldhouse. This is necessary due to a refrigerant leak and a non-functioning compressor, affecting the HVAC system for the administrative offices. The work includes refrigerant recovery, installing a new compressor, pressure testing for leaks, and recharging the system. The repairs are to be done immediately due to upcoming hot weather.
Northeast Park Splash Pad Purchase Approved, Funded by Grant
The purchase of a splash pad and associated equipment for Northeast Park was approved, with funding from the Community Development Business Grant (CDG). The purchase from Landscape Structures is justified by special purchasing statutes due to compatibility with existing equipment and substantial cost savings. The total cost is not to exceed an unspecified amount, but the equipment is expected to be purchased and in-house before the end of July, with installation planned for next year. This splash pad features a unique, timed-run system that operates for 90 seconds per button push, requiring no electricity.
Park Use Agreements Approved for Community Events
Four use agreements were approved: one with Abigail Sparks for a summer sendoff event at Old City Park, one with James Cole for the spectator invitational agreement at Park which he has previously used, one with the Public Library for a greeting party at City Park, and one with the Greenwood Police Department for National Night Out. All events were approved with no reported issues or concerns from the board members.
Browning Day Selected for Renovation Consultation of New Parks Admin Offices
The city is moving forward with a professional services agreement with Browning Day for consultation on renovating the existing 6,000 sq ft B&B building, which will house the Parks and Recreation administration employees. This relocation will free up the current community center for public use and allow for rethinking of the fieldhouse. The scope of work includes interior and exterior renovations of the B&B building, as well as assessing vacated community center and fieldhouse spaces. The total fee for Browning Day is $89,500. Funding is to be determined. Construction is potentially slated for bid in 2027.
NB Construction Awarded Contract for City Center Park Basketball Court Demolition
A service agreement with NB Construction for $13,325 was approved to remove basketball courts and posts at City Center Park. This demolition is a precursor to the construction of new courts, for which an RFP has been sent out. The work involves removing asphalt down to a stone base and dismantling fences. The removal is planned for after Labor Day to avoid peak usage and will likely carry over into the next year. The city aims to secure a competitive bid for the new court construction.
