The board responded that SEL is broader than mindfulness and includes instructional rigor, and that the strategic plan reflects community feedback.
Superintendent Announces 'Tea Time' Event, Celebrates Pride Month and Reunion
During new business, the Superintendent announced an upcoming 'Tea Time with the Superintendent' event on June 11th at Fort Lee High School Media Center, designed as a meet-and-greet for families. Communications regarding a survey and the event itself will be sent out. The Superintendent also celebrated Pride Month and shared a personal anecdote about her 50th high school class reunion.
Fort Lee Board of Education Approves 2025-2028 Strategic Plan Focused on Communication, Safety, Climate, and Educators
The Board of Education reviewed and approved the district's strategic plan for 2025-2028. The plan, developed over a year with input from staff, parents, and community members, focuses on four key themes: communication, security and safety, school climate and culture, and teacher recruitment and development. It outlines goals and specific action steps to enhance communication systems, improve school safety infrastructure, foster a supportive learning environment, and attract/retain high-quality educators. The plan will be a living document with ongoing monitoring and review.
Board Conducts Votes on Multiple Agenda Items
The Board of Education conducted multiple roll-call votes to approve various items on the agenda, including resolutions related to student disenrollment, curriculum items, and other board matters. Several members participated in making motions and seconding them.
District Reports on Security Drills and Case Numbers
The district reported seven HIV cases since the last meeting, with one confirmed and six unfounded. All security and fire drills, as well as bus drills, were completed in May in accordance with state law.
