The City Council discussed and ultimately voted down an ordinance that would have authorized the City Manager and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Bryer Advisory Group LP for fire protection systems inspection management. The proposed fee structure included a $27 fee for Bryer and an $18 city fee, totaling $45 per system. Concerns were raised by council members and a business owner regarding the potential doubling of inspection costs for small businesses. The ordinance failed to pass on its first reading.

The council acknowledged these concerns, with the Mayor and Chief of Police discussing protocols for addressing potential citizen complaints regarding federal law enforcement presence near polling sites.
