Storm Lake City Council Approves Sewer and Water Rate Increases Effective July 2026

The city council approved the third reading of an ordinance to adjust sewer rates and an ordinance to adjust water rates, both effective July 1st, 2026. The sewer rate increases are estimated at $4.86 per month for fiscal year 27, $4.23 for fiscal year 28, and $4.37 for fiscal year 29, intended to cover maintenance, repairs, and avoid future large increases. The water rate increases are estimated at $12.17 per month for fiscal year 27, $14.21 for fiscal year 28, and $12.89 for fiscal year 29, recommended by the Water Ad Hoc Committee to gradually increase rates and avoid a large jump during new water treatment plant construction.
