Council Approves Purchase of New Generator for Lift Station
The Public Works and Public Property Committee recommended approving a request from the water wastewater superintendent to purchase a Generac emergency generator from Staff Electric for an amount not to exceed $80,000. The current generator at the lift station on Lake Drive and Brookdale Drive, built in 2000, was found to be from 1972 and had stopped working. The new generator will be upsizing from 45 kilowatts to 60 kilowatts to accommodate potential future upgrades. A council member inquired if upsizing the generator would allow for a request to the DNR to change the overflow, which was confirmed as a possibility pending a strenuous permitting process. The motion to approve the purchase passed.
Citizen Questions Accuracy of Meeting Minutes and Adherence to Procedures
During the citizen comments section, Gregory Mecca raised concerns about the accuracy of meeting minutes and adherence to meeting procedures. He alleged that the minutes from a previous meeting misrepresented the actions taken regarding a request by Mar Farm Education and Conservation Center to use the former Gruffschmidt Senior Center, stating that 'no action was taken' was a lie and that action was indeed taken by requesting staff to create a use policy. Mecca requested clarification on whether the city would follow Robert's Rules of Order and asked for a written response from the Mayor. Later in the meeting, during the consent agenda vote, there was a brief discussion about the accuracy of the minutes for item number four, which was confirmed by the clerk to be accurate, and the minutes were approved.

The motion to enter closed session was unanimous. Following the closed session, no action was taken on the item, but a special common council meeting was announced for May 26th at 6 p.m.
