City Renews Maintenance District for Street Lighting and Landscaping
The city council approved the renewal of the citywide maintenance district number 93-1 for fiscal year 2026-2027. This district finances public street lighting and landscaping. The annual renewal process has occurred for 33 years. The adopted resolution renews the district, allowing the city to continue levying assessments. The engineer's report and resolution of intention were previously approved on May 6, 2026. The total cost of maintaining landscape and lighting is approximately $2.4 million, while the assessment generates $1,019,854. The assessment rate has remained flat and unadjusted since 1996, resulting in a subsidy of approximately $1.4 million from the general fund for these services.
