Pen Manor School District Reports Improved Attendance Rates, Plans New Truancy Program
The Pen Manor School District presented data on its attendance rates, showing improvements compared to the previous year. Overall attendance rates were 95.8% for elementary schools, 94.3% for middle schools, and 93.6% for high schools. Absences were reduced by 7,070, and habitually truant cases were reduced by 35. Moving forward, the district plans to implement a truancy diversion program and expand the role of its student engagement facilitator.
Pen Manor School Board Delays Decision on PSBA All-Access Package, Cites Cost Concerns
The Pen Manor School Board discussed the PSBA All-Access Package, which includes policy documentation and administrative regulations. Pen Manor School District Honors Retiring Staff and Outstanding Educators
The Pen Manor School District recognized several retiring staff members for their years of service. The retirees included Jill Albert (26.75 years, receptionist and assistant to special ed/gifted), Judy Duke (22.5 years, business office), Sue Frolic (21 years, bus driver and aid), Deb Drexel (27.5 years, first grade teacher), Kelly Gra (33.77 years, fourth grade teacher), Barb Havstick (39.5 years, fifth grade teacher), Dave (31 years, health and phys ed teacher, athletic trainer), Danielle Gwyn (since 2008, fourth grade teacher), and Deb Gerlock (26 years, cafeteria manager). Dave and Danielle Gwyn were also recognized as outstanding secondary and elementary educators, respectively, and Deb Gerlock as outstanding employee.
