Proposed Parking Restriction Changes on Morris Avenue to Enhance Safety
The Board of Commissioners is being asked to authorize the advertisement of an ordinance to amend Chapter 145 (Vehicles and Traffic) regarding parking restrictions on Morris Avenue. The ordinance proposes rescinding a no-parking zone 390 feet from New Gulf Road and extending for 125 feet, and adding a new no-parking zone on the west side of Morris Avenue starting 347 feet southwest of New Gulf Road and extending for 217 feet. This change is driven by a safety issue identified by Sergeant Matt Koflesh and supervisors, relating to sight distance for vehicles exiting the Erdman Hall driveway onto Morris Avenue.
Ardmore Pump Station Generator Replacement Contract Awarded to AIM Electric, Inc.
The Finance Committee recommended awarding a contract for the Ardmore Pump Station Generator Replacement to AIM Electric, Inc. for $249,570. This project involves replacing the existing indoor generator with an outdoor generator and upgrading ventilation louvers to double-hung windows. The total project cost is approximately 4% higher than the construction budget but was a well-responded-to bid solicitation. AIM Electric, Inc. is a familiar contractor who has done electrical work for the township previously, including at this pump station.
Eight New Police Officers Recommended for Conditional Employment Offers
The Police Committee recommended to the Board of Commissioners authorization for the Township Manager to make conditional offers of employment to eight probationary police candidates. These candidates have successfully completed the civil service requirements, including a written examination, physical agility test, oral examination, and background investigation, as well as polygraph examinations. Seven of the candidates will attend the Montgomery County Police Academy starting July 6, 2026, as they do not possess the Act 120 certification. One candidate is already a certified officer serving in another municipality.
River Road Culvert Repair Contract Awarded to Jurich, Inc.
The Finance Committee recommended awarding a contract for the River Road Culvert Repair to Jurich, Inc. for $320,217. The project addresses existing corrugated metal pipe culverts with capacity issues and clogging problems by installing a box culvert to increase capacity and improve access. The project is 100% grant-funded through FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The bid received was 25% below the township engineer's estimate.
Matthew Taylor Reappointed to Pension Fund Trustee Position
The Finance Committee recommended the reappointment of Matthew Taylor as a trustee for the Municipal Police Pension Fund and the Township Employee Pension Fund for a three-year term expiring in June 2029. Mr. Taylor, a partner at a wealth management and financial advisory firm, has served as a trustee since June 2017 and brings significant knowledge and expertise to the board. The township benefits from professional trustees who volunteer their time, saving considerable costs.
