New Appointments to Planning Commission and Shade Tree Commission Announced
The City Council acknowledged the appointment of Joseé Torres to the City of Lebanon Planning Commission, filling the unexpired term of Jerry Konowski. Torres, a retired RN from the VA medical center, has prior experience serving on the city's review selection committee for a grant opportunity and was previously appointed to the Zoning Hearing Board as an alternate. He will represent planning region one, covering areas east of Lincoln Avenue. The Council also acknowledged the appointment of Frederick "Fritz" Hollowman and Glenn Mech to the City of Lebanon Shade Tree Commission. Hollowman, a lifelong resident, previously served on the Shade Tree Commission and is involved with the Union Canal Tunnel Park and Quita Fahila Ottabon Society. Mech, a resident of Robin Road, has a family history with the Shade Tree Commission and brings leadership experience from his time as executive director of the Lebanon County Vocational School.
Downtown Revitalization Plan Drafted, Small Business Support Program Launched
The city is advancing its five-year action plan for downtown revitalization, focusing on increasing vibrancy, supporting small businesses, improving the downtown experience, strengthening economic resilience, and encouraging investment. A draft plan has been presented by Downtown Strategies, with details to be formally announced soon. The city is also offering a small business support program with free virtual training opportunities covering various business modernization topics. Downtown beautification efforts are ongoing through partnerships, including seasonal maintenance of flower baskets, planters, and sidewalk sweeping.
Summer Mini Camps Offered for Children Ages 6-12
The City of Lebanon is offering a series of summer mini camps for children aged 6-12, focusing on nature, crime-solving, firefighting, and recycling. These programs are designed to provide hands-on learning experiences and connect youth with various aspects of public service and environmental education. Several camps are free for city residents, with a nominal fee for non-residents. Registration is available through the administration office or via email.

Updates on New Splash Pad and Dog Park, Arboretum Status Pursued
The City Council received updates on park developments, including the splash pad at Southwest Park and the dog park at Coleman Memorial Park. The splash pad's substantial completion is anticipated by the end of June, with potential opening delayed for staff training. The dog park is substantially completed, with a grand opening scheduled for Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m. Initially, the dog park will be exclusive to Lebanon City residents for the first 30 days to manage registration and troubleshoot operations, before opening to non-city residents. Additionally, the Friends of Coleman Memorial Park announced their efforts to achieve Level 2 arboretum status, starting with a tree inventory, and are hosting outdoor movies and concerts throughout the summer.
