Lawrence City Council Unanimously Approves Rezoning for Residential Lot Split on Carol Road
The council considered Rezoning Petition 26-L038530 for 8530 Carol Road. The petitioner seeks to rezone the property from DA to D3 to split the three-acre lot into two residential lots of approximately 1.2 and 1.1 acres. The City of Indianapolis staff supports the split, contingent on council approval. Surrounding properties are zoned D3. The Department of Public Works, represented by Renee Rafa, also supports the rezoning, noting it aligns with neighboring D3 zoning and the proposed lot sizes are consistent with the area. Public comment was overwhelmingly in favor, with no opposition voiced. The council unanimously approved the rezoning petition.
City Events Update: Health Fair, Film Series, and Farmers Market Draw Community Engagement
Jamie Wyrick, director of city events, reported on recent and upcoming events. The health fair on Sunday was well-attended, and the 'Hill 317' group also participated. The first 'film at the fort' event had nearly 400 attendees, which was seen as a positive activity for children. The farmers market will begin this Thursday and run until October 1st. Wyrick also clarified that the 'caring program' allows for redirection of non-emergency calls from 911.
