Broadwater Estates RID Assessment Increased to Fund Road Maintenance
The Lewis and Clark County Commission approved Resolution 2026-63 to levy and assess an annual special assessment for the Broadwater Estates Rural Improvement District (RID) Number 2004-4. The assessment will increase from $300 to $345 per property per year, totaling $24,840 annually for 72 benefiting properties. This increase is necessary to cover a projected shortfall of $7,500 for the next chip seal cycle scheduled for 2028 and to ensure ongoing maintenance of the road network, including snowplowing, sweeping, drainage control, and signage. The district was created in 2004 for maintenance purposes. Public notice was provided, and no written testimony was received. The commission voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
Wheat Ridge 3 & 4 RID Assessment Increased for Road Maintenance
The Lewis and Clark County Commission adopted Resolution 2026-65 concerning the Wheat Ridge 3 and 4 Rural Improvement District (RID) Number 2018-2. An annual special assessment of $290 per benefiting property will be levied, an increase from the previous $227.26 per year. This change, affecting 76 properties, will generate $22,040 annually for road maintenance, including snow plowing, sweeping, and chip sealing. The increase is driven by a projected $17,000 shortfall for the 2029 chip seal cycle. Public notification was conducted, and no public objections were raised. The commission unanimously approved the resolution.
SkyView RID Assessment Raised to Cover Road Maintenance Needs
The Lewis and Clark County Commission approved Resolution 2026-64 to levy and assess an annual special assessment for the SkyView Rural Improvement District (RID) Number 2008-9. The assessment is increased from $186.91 to $240 per property per year, totaling $121,440 annually for 125 benefiting properties. This adjustment addresses a projected shortfall of approximately $33,000 for the next chip seal cycle in 2031 and ensures the continuation of necessary road maintenance, including snow plowing, sweeping, and drainage control. The district was established in 2009. Public notification and a meeting were held, with no written objections filed. The commission unanimously approved the resolution.
County Approves SAMHSA Grant for Mobile Crisis Response Team Expansion
The Lewis and Clark County Commission approved a grant application to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for the Behavioral Health Mobile Crisis Team Partnerships program. The grant, up to $750,000 per year for four years (September 30, 2026, through September 29, 2030), aims to establish or enhance mobile crisis response teams. These teams divert individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises from law enforcement and criminal justice pathways to the behavioral health crisis system. The existing team, managed by St. Peter's Health since November 2021, consists of a therapist and allied support operating 24-7, responding in partnership with law enforcement. The grant funding will support enhancements such as clinical supervision, a swing shift, a second vehicle, and case management to connect individuals with ongoing care and resources, thereby preventing future crises. The commission voted unanimously to approve the grant.
