Davenport Council Amends Solar Farm Zoning, Restricting Use within West Davenport Service Boundary
The council considered an ordinance amendment to Title 17 of the Municipal Code regarding solar farms. The amendment, proposed by Alderman Holloway and seconded, aims to prohibit utility-scale solar within the planned urban service boundary of the West Davenport Land Use and Infrastructure Study. For land zoned agriculture, it mandates that the zoning board of adjustments use future land use maps and the comprehensive plan, including the West Davenport Land Use and Infrastructure Study, to approve special uses only where future industrial is planned. The amendment passed with a unanimous roll call vote, and further discussion is deferred to the following week.
Davenport Council Approves Speed Limit Reductions and New Four-Way Stop, Finalizes School Resource Officer Agreement
The council addressed several public safety-related ordinances, including speed limit revisions and the addition of a four-way stop. The speed limit on 36th Street between Brady Street and Kimberly Road is reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph. The speed limit on Warren Street between 5th and 6th Streets is reduced from 30 mph to 25 mph. A new four-way stop intersection is added at 3rd Street and Warren Street. Additionally, a resolution was approved for a 28E intergovernmental agreement between the City of Davenport and the Davenport Community School District for school resource officers, pending school board approval. The council also reviewed requests for street closures and noise variances for upcoming outdoor events.
