The original approval was granted on June 12, 2025, and required a building permit to be issued within one year. The applicant requested the extension due to ongoing complexities in securing the building permit, including engineering review comments and an issue with a TC Energy pipeline, as well as the pending property sale closure.

Commissioners noted concerns about rising material costs affecting bid outcomes.
Emergency Repairs Authorized for Barley Chief Road Bridge; Hazlewood Avenue Project to Go Out to Bid
The Board of Commissioners authorized Gilmore and Associates to develop emergency repair plans for the Barley Chief Road Bridge. The bridge was found to have significant deterioration, including scouring around the foundation, necessitating immediate weight restrictions and detour routes for larger vehicles. The repair plan is expected within six months. Separately, the Hazlewood Avenue guide rail project, which addresses erosion undermining a guardrail near the Amtrak line, will go out to bid, with Gilmore also involved in developing the scope and cost estimate.

The Board approved a two-to-three-week license agreement for the Kalen Meeting House property, allowing the township to access and maintain the site before a June 18th town tour event. The conveyance of the property to the township is scheduled for June 15th. This agreement is distinct from a lease and permits routine maintenance such as mowing. The township is also seeking grant funding for a replacement bridge on this property, similar to a successful grant for the Ken Meeting House bridge.
