Burr Ridge to Replace East Side Burridge Parkway Pathway with $150,000 in Funds
The Village Board of Trustees approved the use of $150,000 in Downtown Business District (DBD) funds to replace the east side Burridge Parkway pathway between the Marriott and McClintoch Drive. This asphalt pathway, which is approximately 1100 feet long, is in poor condition and receives complaints. It is used by Marriott patrons and residents from Lakeside Point. The village staff will manage this project, which is expected to be completed in the summer and will be replaced with concrete. This project may be combined with the bridge pathway project for better bidding.
Burr Ridge Village Hall Relocating Temporarily to 451 Commerce Street
The Village of Burr Ridge is preparing to move its administrative offices to a temporary location at 451 Commerce Street while the current village hall is reconstructed. The move will occur on May 21-22 and May 28-29, during which the village hall will be closed. Operations will resume on June 1st at the new location, which will serve as the temporary village hall for approximately one year. Board and Plan Commission meetings will be held at Gower Middle School, while other public meetings will be at 451 Commerce Street. The village website and Nixle will provide updates.
Burr Ridge Denies Floor Area Ratio Variation Request for 602 Umbreance Drive
The Village Board of Trustees voted to direct staff to prepare an ordinance denying a variation request for a floor area ratio (FAR) above 0.20 at 602 Umbreance Drive. The applicant sought to increase the FAR from 0.20 to 0.23 (a 16% increase, 157 sq ft less than originally proposed) to allow for an improvement above the existing garage and a corner rounding in the mudroom. The Plan Commission had previously denied the variation twice (5-2 and 6-0 votes), determining that the applicant did not meet the standards for a variation, particularly the requirement of hardship caused by the condition of the land, as opposed to a mere inconvenience to the owner. The board's decision aligns with the Plan Commission's findings.
Chestnut Hills Residents Raise Noise and Light Trespass Concerns with SEA Facility
Residents from Chestnut Hills expressed concerns about noise and light trespass from the SEA facility, citing violations of the annexation agreement and its amendments. They requested the village appoint a dedicated contact person to liaise with SEA's Chicago-area management to ensure compliance with training records, noise reduction measures (elimination of backup beepers, sound-deadening materials), and light control. A resident presented a report documenting light trespass and suggested solutions. The board acknowledged the concerns and agreed to work offline with residents and staff to address the ongoing issues, committing to making it an agenda item.
Burr Ridge Approves $575,000 for Pedestrian Bridge and Pathway Improvements
The Village Board of Trustees approved the disbursement of up to $575,000 from the Downtown Business District (DBD) fund to the Burr Ridge Park Owners Association (BRPOA) for infrastructure improvements. This includes $375,000 for the replacement of retaining walls and concrete abutments under a pedestrian bridge and $200,000 for the replacement of an asphalt pathway connecting Burridge Parkway to the bridge, and connecting to the Marriott's parking lot. The BRPOA has already invested $125,000 in engineering and phase one studies for the bridge project. This initiative aims to improve safety, aesthetics, and walkability in the downtown area, benefiting residents and businesses.
