Ark City EMS Honored for Life-Saving Efforts in Two Cardiac Arrest Incidents
Several members of the Ark City Fire Department and EMS were recognized for their life-saving efforts. Lieutenant Dan Dietrich, Paramedic Jackson Slater, EMT Austin Butler, Paramedic Sean Dent, EMT Nate Wilson, EMT Mike Ebbinger, and Captain Tanner McClure were acknowledged for their actions on January 17th when they responded to a report of an unresponsive patient in cardiopulmonary arrest. The EMS personnel initiated advanced life support interventions, resulting in the return of spontaneous circulation and respiration. The patient was treated and later discharged. A second incident on February 2nd involved a similar response to an unresponsive patient, with EMS interventions leading to the patient's recovery and return to work. Statistics were shared indicating the low survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (92% mortality) and the rarity of surviving with good brain function (1 in 13). Both patients involved expressed gratitude for the EMS team's quick thinking and professional actions.
